Website and Shop Changes

Hello!

TL;DR: Switched online payment system, moved the shop to the main website, and started this blog!

After much experimentation and a closer look at the terms and conditions, I've decided to simplify how my webstore operates. Going forward, I will no longer use Squarespace to host my store. Upon reviewing the fine print, I discovered that the cost per transaction increased to approximately 6% plus 10 cents per transaction after a few months, in addition to the $300 annual hosting fee.

Given these costs, I have transitioned to using Square for both online and in-person sales. Square allows me to handle in-person transactions and payment links without an annual fee, only charging a processing fee of under 4%. This change will help streamline inventory and reduce overall costs, making it easier for me to provide better service and value to my customers.

One thing to note is that Square's payment links currently only allow one purchase at a time. While this might seem like a limitation, it ensures that each transaction is tracked and removed from inventory when someone buys something.

You'll find the new shop under the "Store" section in the website's navigation menu. For now, it will have a simple layout due to the limited customization options of my hosting provider. However, it's already integrated with the product I use for my photography, so there are no additional costs to run it.

The Blog, InFocus by Sid Marlowe! The main focus will be providing more detail and story behind my photos and to keep you informed about various events, upcoming adventures, and provide you with a sneak peek into what's on the horizon. Keep an eye out for the first installment of InFocus where I go into detail about the wonderful deer that visit everyday.
